The precious metal market is at a 25 year high. And analysts predict that the price of gold is likely to go even higher--which raises serious concerns for retail jewelers who need to replace older stock. In the words of Kai Armstrong of Galatea Fine Jewelry in Milton, MA, “I’m seeing resistance to the higher prices. Jewelry with less gold content is definitely stronger now.”

In response to retailers’ concerns over the volatile gold market, The Touch has created two new collections in stainless steel and in titanium. The company’s president, George Simpson said “My customers are all very concerned about the soaring gold market. We needed to give them a price-stable product to move while consumers adjust to the higher price of gold. We are in the right place at the right time with our new collections of alternative metals. Titanium and stainless steel are very fashionable now and the reliable lower cost of materials made them an obvious choice.”

The new additions to the Mariner’s Collection feature bracelets, necklaces and earrings using stainless steel cable with elegant clasps and gold accents. The clasps are beautifully engineered – you really have to put one on to fully appreciate the workmanship.

The new Black Silk™ collection of affordably priced necklaces features delicate stations scattered on multiple strands of a coated titanium alloy, nitinol - the most elastic metal on earth, meaning that it won’t kink. The nautical version depicts delicate creatures from the sea floating on thin black lines. Starfish, seashells, seahorses, and crabs are scattered across the strands as naturally as if the tide had placed them there. This necklace series will also be available with floral themes, scattered diamonds, and floating pearls.
