Scott Cusson
For over thirty years Scott Cusson has been president of Brinsmaids, a family-owned independent retail jewelry store in New Canaan, Connecticut. When he joined the firm in the 1970's the primary goal was to revitalize a struggling organization and create a guild style operation focused on quality, service and professionalism. At the end of the decade the lure of American jewelry designers offered new opportunities for the progressive retailer and Scott embraced the possibilities. Brinsmaids new mission became to blend the best of a classic jewelry tradition with the creative energy of the most talented, emerging jewelry designers in America. Scott's forward thinking approach created new retail dynamics for both designers and consumers. Brinsmaids became the retail benchmark of designer branding concepts for independents focusing on all aspects of development and maintainence. Because of their leadership role over the last twenty years, Brinsmaids has been featured in every major trade publication. Scott has been honored with numerous awards for retail design innovation and excellence. With his passion for design and his committment to education at all levels, he has served on many trade advisory boards, regularly asked to participate in seminars and has written many editorials from his retail perspective. Now, as an independent jewelry consultant, focusing on original design and creative collaboration, Scott will continue to pursue his intense interest in young talent and creative relationship development between the artist and the consumer.
